Good authentic food with great customer service. The only issue I had with 805s previously was the customer service but they have improved it greatly recently
I've longed for a reliable and tasty African food restaurant in North London. I've finally found one in 805 Restaurant. The staff are always helpful and pleasant to talk to. I cannot wait for my next visit. The only thing I wish for is my order to arrive sooner so I can more quickly enjoy the deliciousness that their menu has to offer.
I had listened to a friend talk about how amazing and great this restaurant is in comparison to other Nigerian restaurants. Her overwhelming description of 805 Hendon revealed how Nigerian meal is served in sophistication at the restaurant and how Nigerian dignities would pitch their tent for a taste of HOME in the UK. I thought all these were exaggerations until last summer when I had the opportunity of dining at the restaurant. My oh my, I think I dropped my jaw.
It was on a Saturday evening, my friend had thrown her boyfriend a birthday party at the restaurant. As I stepped in, I was thrilled, as I gazed upon the elegance and sophistication of the interior, the nicely furnished medium size room with perfectly built wooden chairs, and a bar on one corner of the room, was a display of class. The lightening had been carefully and beautifully done giving the room a subtle and romantic look. Cool Nigerian music were played in the restaurant and It felt like being in Nigeria once again as I listened to "on top your matter by Wizkid".
I lost track of my location as I made my first order "appetizer", assorted meat pepper soup. The first sip I took reminded me of the pepper soup I use to eat in a popular local shop in Lagos Nigeria and I could almost scream "Iya Bashiru", the waitress at my Nigerian local joint. The pepper soup was that good! Very spicy!
However, as I got to eating the pieces of assorted meats comprising “shaki”,” pomo”, “cowfoot” and “abodi “, reality dawned on me when I discovered a large portion of the assorted meat were bony and I could hardly find a meaty part, I said "It feels like Home, It tastes like Home, but this is not home" because at home, my assorted meat were always fleshy. What a waste of my 10 pounds! I thought! I became less angry after I had a taste of the beef suya a friend ordered, it was very fleshy, well roasted, garnished with suya spices and chopped onions and a lot of pepper, almost reminding me of ‘obalende suya’. Of course, I couldn’t go further with ordering a main course as the appetizer coupled with the pineapple drink I had was really filling.
Overall it was a delightful experience! They could do better with their pricing though and ensure they give their customers excellent value for their money.
